Cleaning of Ionising Bars
For all AC and 24 VDC models
The accumulation of dirt and deposits on an ioniser (both discharge and charge) cannot be prevented in day-to-day industrial business – above all, the ionisers themselves can electrostatically attract dirt as a side effect. Unfortunately, these impurities reduce the performance of the ionisers, so regular cleaning is essential.
The cleaning interval depends on the duration and intensity of use and the operating conditions (dust etc.). We recommend to visually check the electrode at least every 2 months for contamination around and on the emitter tips and to clean them as a precaution. This also applies to ionisers which have a contamination warning – clean the ionisers before they no longer perform and go into “alarm”!
Adhering deposits can be wiped off with a cloth moistened with alcohol, isopropyl alcohol or white spirit (do not use aggressive solvents such as acetone or toluene). You can also clean the ionisers with a plastic brush and soapy water. For cleaning, please refer to the relevant operating instructions for the ionizer.
Cleaning of ionisers with Barclean and Brush
We recommend the less dangerous cleaning with our water-based cleaning fluid BARCLEAN and plastic brush with natural bristles (Art. Z200183) for all discharge as well as charge ionizers, this also applies to the cleaning of the tips in our blowers and spot type ionisers.
First of all, remove coarse deposits dry with the IONTIS cleaning brush, especially on the side where the emitter tips are. Pay attention to the sharp tips to avoid the risk of injury. Do not use a brush that is too hard or a metal brush, as this will damage the potting compound around the emitters and the grooves that form will attract dirt that is very difficult to remove.
Then clean the ioniser in 2 steps with the Barclean cleaning fluid: first the body of the ionizer, then the section of the tip(s). To do this, apply the cleaning fluid of the tube to the ionizer. Spread the liquid with the brush and let it be briefly tightened. Then you only need to brush the electrode once, polish it with a damp cloth and then with a dry cloth as required. Repeat the process carefully around the important emitter tips.
Note: Barclean contains anionic surfactants for efficient cleaning, which are conductive. Make sure that all residues of the cleaning and liquid are wiped away with a damp soft cloth, otherwise the performance of the ionizer may be negatively affected (conductive layer discharges high voltage).
