Typical application examples for neutralisation and charging
Typical application examples for neutralisation and charging
In the automotive industry, many plastic parts and synthetic fleece are processed, which predominantly have a tendency to become electrostatically charged and have to be neutralised with active discharge in order to enable work processes and keep them dust-free.
IONTIS products are already being used in subsequent processes for both discharging and charging:
Production of Plastic Parts |
Moulded Parts can become charged during the cooling process and stick to the form, thermoset material can also produce flash/flakes which remains sticked to the form: the form parts are via ionising nozzles neutralised and blown free.
At the outfeed belt and/or conveyor belts charged parts can adhere and lead to blockages and need to be neutralised with ionisers. The electrostatics created by thermo-/vacuumforming and subsequent cooling are eliminated with antistatic bars after the process to prevent stacking problems and dust attraction. |
Parts Assembly |
In order to ensure that workplaces (often manual workplaces) are kept charge-neutral during parts assembly or implant manufacture, antistatic bars or ionised air blowers (e.g. laminar flow) can be used depending on the workplace. |
Fixation of Protective Sheet |
Applying a generated charge to the goods will ensure also at high web/conveyor speeds, that the protective sheet can be applied using an adhesive effect and, cards and supplements can be fixed precisely at insert stations. |
Fabrication & Processing of Non-wovens |
Everywhere in the production chain, from shredding of fabric, carding, non-woven production up to forming and processing, disturbing electrostatic charge can occur especially when synthetics are processed. This charge needs active ionisation to be neutralised. |
Paint Spraying |
Antistatic bars and/or ion blowers/nozzles are used to eliminate charges generated during the production and conveying of parts, thus preventing dust and dirt build-up and removing them before painting – especially in hazardous areas.
In order to support a uniform paint application in the spray lines, it is possible with the systematic charging of the surfaces to ensure that the paint particles adhere evenly and that the surfaces remain/become free of bubbles and structures when drying. |
Wrap-around Packaging |
During the unwinding of the film and at the winding bars, an anti-static bar can warrant a trouble-free wrapping of the foil around the goods. |
Pneumatic Transport |
Neutralisation via tube ionisation or ring electrode allows for a trouble-free transport of solid parts in tubes with the use of pressurised air (e.g. trim waste and foil remnants at the inlet of cyclones or prior to the mill). |
